Tranquil vacation destinations surrounded by astonishingly beautiful natural Arizonian environments.

1. Enchantment Resort
Enchantment Resort is a luxurious retreat located in the breathtaking landscape of beautiful Sedona, Arizona. Not only is Enchantment known for its excellent service, but it is also renowned for having world-class amenities. The resort sits right against some of the most famous red rock formations in the American West, which means that views and opportunities for fantastic photo ops abound. The Enchantment itself offers an equal blend of romance for couples and the kind of family fun that creates memories for years to come. The rooms, suites, and casitas at Enchantment Resort are all designed with comfort, style, and an enormous amount of thought. Each of these spaces comes with modern conveniences, and many of them offer absolutely stunning views of the red rocks (or as some Sedona locals call them, the red beds). A number of private outdoor areas let guests really embrace the whole "immersed in nature" vibe of the place. People who stay at Enchantment Resort very much feel like they are ensconced in the beauty of Sedona. Guests can engage in a multitude of different activities and experiences during their stay at Enchantment. Among the many spa options out there, the award-winning spa at Enchantment is definitely near the top of the list. Spa Goers can indulge in a number of treatments that incorporate the kind of amazing natural ingredients found right in and around Sedona and truly feel (or should I say, work really hard to feel) rejuvenated and renewed after their experience. Nobody can be fully tense or uptight after going through one of the maze-like canyons that they go through in a few of the signature spa treatments. On top of that, guests can get in a good workout at the resort's Fitness Center, swim a few laps in one of the pools, or play some tennis while the sun is still out. Dining at the Resort is a treat.

2. L'Auberge de Sedona
The luxury hotel, L'Auberge de Sedona, nestled by the Oak Creek River in Sedona, Arizona, offers views of the breathtaking rock formations that define this part of the state. The hotel has accommodations ranging from very nice rooms to little cottages that are perfect for a couple to snuggle in. The cottages have fireplaces, hot tubs, and other rustic touches. Even the bathrooms feel like you're getting pampered in the woods. The hotel's restaurant has views of the river that's just a few feet from the building and serves freshly prepared, fairly refined food. Breakfasts are hearty, and the light lunches are tasty discards from what look like the main courses. Between lunch and dinner, the hotel holds a happy hour with wine and a few cheap snacks. Though a few of the outdoor activities seem a bit corny, the hiking guides know the terrain and keep excursions interesting. With a few exceptions, Sedona appears to be a town to which rustic cornyola has been exported. Corporations looking for a space to hatch paunchy ideas also seem to have a thing for this part of the state.

3. Amara Resort and Spa
Amara Resort and Spa is a luxurious retreat that combines natural beauty with modern elegance to allow for an experience of relaxation and rejuvenation that is second to none. The architecture of the resort complements the surrounding landscape, permitting a serene atmosphere that is perfect for unwinding. When guests arrive, they are greeted with warm hospitality and views of the stunning mountain and verdant, lush scenery that surround the resort. The ambience allows one to immerse oneself in peace and tranquility. The resort offers an impressive array of amenities to knock every guest's socks off. The on-site spa serves as a sanctuary of relaxation with a menu of comprehensive treatments—including those old standbys: massages, facials, and bodywork—that are guaranteed to leave one feeling rejuvenated. Indeed, the spa's motto is: "You're going to feel so good after this, you won't even know it until you sit up and take a look at your freshly-restored bod!" And there's no reason for the spa folk to be modest because working in such an atmosphere with great products and more skilled hands than a Buddhist temple can surely work wonders for any guest.

4. The Wilde Resort and Spa
The Wilde Resort and Spa is a place of luxury in Sedona, Arizona, that is known for its stunning views of the red rock formations that the area is so famous for. The hotel's architecture is a blend of Mediterranean and Southwestern styles. This makes for a warm and inviting space that feels anything but ordinary. When you walk up to the hotel, you can really feel the special atmosphere that surrounds it, the type of ambiance that sets the stage for a very good stay. And I would have to imagine, even though I didn't see it, that the staff ranks among the most friendly and helpful on the planet, because when I was a guest at the hotel, that is what I experienced. The lobby of the hotel is a beauty. There are a number of different kinds of spaces to enjoy indoors or outdoors. Many of the guest rooms and all of the suites are fabulously designed, offering spaces in which either one or a number of people can relax and re-collect their thoughts. I feel sure that with good reason, there can be spaces in these suites in which the imagination can run wild.

5. Courtyard by Marriott Sedona
For those planning to visit Sedona, Arizona, the Courtyard Marriott Sedona provides a unique combination of comfort, spectacular vistas, and modern hotel amenities. The gorgeous Red Rock formations serve as a stunning backdrop for the hotel, aptly situated near popular local attractions like the Cathedral Rock Trail, the Chapel of the Holy Cross, and Bell Rock. The hotel's locale makes it easy to experience the natural beauty and culture of Sedona up close. The hotel itself can comfortably accommodate you, with tastefully decorated rooms that include the sort of luxury you’d expect and the sort of amenities you’d hope for... An outdoor pool and hot tub, a fire pit area with comfy seating, and a fitness center afford various options for ways to wind down after a long day of enjoying Sedona. The hotel staff are always friendly and helpful, doing what they can to make your stay a positive one. While primarily a leisure travel destination, the Courtyard Marriott Sedona does boast a couple of meeting spaces, which I poked my head into during my stay. Both spaces provide good internet access and are equipped to handle presentations of varying kinds. I didn't use either space, but I can say that both rooms and their furnishings looked conducive to any number of fun work projects.

6. Poco Diable Resort
Nestled within Sedona's breathtaking red rock formations, Poco Diable Resort is a truly unique retreat. It offers an uncommon and delightful mix of relaxation, adventure, and vivid personal touches that too many hotels today overlook. Beyond first-class service that's the right blend of friendliness and professionalism (a hard combo to find), the resort has a fantastic setting and inviting accommodations—from cozy standard rooms to spacious mountain-view suites. Postcard-perfect, nearly all of them feature private balconies with views that might duly astound even the hard-to-impress.
If you've been to Sausalito or the Italian Alps, you might be able to picture some of the magic here. This is an understated place with easy access to all of Sedona’s art, spas, shopping, and seriously breathtaking hiking trails (the wonder of outdoor adventures here is not overrated). Poco Diable also has a fine restaurant with a menu that captures the local flavors of Arizona. Dining here is a delight, made even better by a show of stunning views from every table.

7. Heiden’s Hideaway
Heiden’s Hideaway Lodge is a serene sanctuary in nature, designed to foster a deep connection between individuals and their environment. This unique retreat blends comfort and natural beauty; making it ideal for those seeking solitude, not mere silence, but the kind of quiet that allows the mind to hear the faint whispers of the spirit. It is a space where the heart can really listen. The deep, primal sounds of nature—birds, winds, trees, and water—pervade the lodge. The gentle ambience—sometimes punctuated with laughter—carries throughout the spaces, reflecting warmth and light, real and metaphorical. The lodge is an adventure. A lodger can do daring things outside—hike, kayak, or camp—but the Heiden’s Hideaway itself is an insurance policy against the dangers of the wild. What lies within is safety and security, which in many ways are just the prelude to peace. Even the floor is made of something called peace concrete, which is much kinder to the feet and ears than regular concrete. And that right there is the vibe of Heiden’s Hideaway: it’s a space for safe encounters with peace.

8. The Orchard Canyon on Oak Creek
Orchard Canyon on Oak Creek is a quiet getaway cradled in the gorgeous geography of Arizona, along the banks of clear, rushing Oak Creek. This delightful retreat offers an atmosphere of calm juxtaposed against 50-foot-high canyon walls, brushed with bright green moss, and lining the creek itself—where 600,000 gallons of water flow (at about 4 mph) every day. Just two hours from Phoenix (and 1.5 hours from the airport in Las Vegas), the retreat is also accessible from the small nearby town of Sedona. Visitors to the area are likely to discover many opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors. Well-defined (and well-marked) forest and canyon trails here in the mile-high Verde Valley cater to all hiking skill levels; they meander across the 40,000 acres of the national forest around Oak Creek. These paths abound with not just breathtaking views of the canyon and creek but also a splendid array of plant species (including some very large cacti), animal life (including many who are just passing through), and well-camouflaged, almost-to-the-eye birds.

9. Sedona Summit Resort
Sedona Summit Resort is a premier destination in the enchanting red rock landscape of Sedona, Arizona. Renowned for its stunning views and opulent yet comfortable accommodations, it's the ideal locale for a serene getaway or an outdoor adventure. The resort features a number of roomy suites, including one- and two-bedroom options, that are stocked with modern conveniences. Each has a full kitchen ready for any culinary task; a comfy living area that beckons one to lounge; and a private terrace or balcony, on par with anything in the state, that serves as a front-row seat for the astonishing show nature puts on.

10. The Sky Lodge
The Sky Lodge Resort is located in Sedona, Arizona. It is a tranquil resort that sits in stunning red rock surroundings and serves as a perfect retreat for travelers of all types, whether they be romantics, family members, or individuals on the mend. The Sky Lodge has easy access to hiking trails and stunning views and is one of the most scenic resorts in America. Its accommodations balance the finely wrought lines of red rock with a comfort that borders on luxurious. It is a mixture of well-appointed modernity and breezy coziness. There are suites and cabins, one of the cabins near the top serves as a great lookout point, and all are very spacious with plenty of room to lounge between the lines of nature. I spent a few restful days at the Sky Lodge in one of its large, two-bedroom suites, in which the family that occupies it can lounge together for a good while. The keynote of the suite is comfort. After a trip to the art village, we had our chef cook a dinner for us in the spacious kitchen, and then we had a family dinner at the large table. The Sky Lodge also serves breakfasts that are worthy of an artful breakfast in bed. Breakfasts, like the two we had, are good enough to use as an occasion for doing something with the day and then living in that day.
